Biography For Beth

Alice Elizabeth Smith, also known as Beth Smith, Beth Chapman, and Alice Barmore (born on October 29, 1967 in Denver, (Colorado) is the fifth wife of bounty hunter Duane Chapman.  Together, they run Da Kine Bail Bonds with his two sons, Leland Chapman and Duane Lee Chapman, II, Tim Chapman, and with 'Baby' Lyssa Chapman. She appears on Dog the Bounty Hunter.

Personal life

Alice Smith is the daughter of the late Garry L. Smith, a former minor league first baseman. It had been claimed on the television series that Garry Smith was a baseball player for the Kansas City Athletics; this claim is not supported by the Baseball Almanac.

It has been claimed that Beth was Duane Chapman's common-law wife for 16 years; however, she married Keith A. Barmore in Denver on August 26, 1991.

She was in the bail bond business in Colorado as a competitor to Duane Chapman's sister, but she no longer carries a license.

Beth is the mother of four children. She had her first child Dominic (b. 1985, when she was 17 years old) who was put up for adoption. Nearly 20 years later Beth's husband, Duane, tracked Dominic down and he now lives with his mother, stepfather and half siblings in Hawaii. Beth also has a daughter, Cecily Barmore (b. 1992) from a previous marriage to Keith Barmore. She has two children with Duane Chapman: Bonnie Jo and Garry. Duane has 10 other children from previous relationships.

One of Duane Chapman's daughters, Barbara Katie Chapman, was killed in a car accident near Fairbanks, Alaska, on May 19, 2006 the day before Duane and Beth's wedding. Barbara Katie was just 23 years old at the time of her death. She is survived by her mother, Lyssa Greene and then 4-year old son, Travis Drake-Lee Chapman.

In September 2006, Smith became embroiled in a controversy when she was detained and held for a contempt hearing after it was discovered she was wearing a microphone when she tried to attend a bail hearing for Duane Chapman. Cell phones and electronic recording equipment are banned from federal courthouses by law. Upon learning from the A&E crew that no recording was done, however, the judge was satisfied.

In popular culture

She was parodied on South Park in the episode "Miss Teacher Bangs a Boy" on October 18, 2006. The character "Beth, Dog's Bitch" served under Eric Cartman (known as "Dawg") as he served as hall monitor at South Park Elementary. In the episode, her breasts were so large, she was physically unable to see over them (she joked in Year of the Dog that she was upset to see them so small).

On July 1, 2008 Beth appeared on NBC’s new show Celebrity Family Feud. Beth and the cast from Dog the Bounty Hunter competed against Kathie Lee Gifford’s friends and family.
